The Queensland branch of the Society of Automotive Engineers (S.A.E) has welcomed the chance to meet and learn from the team behind one of Australia's most popular fibreglass boat manufacturers, CruiseCraft boats.
CruiseCraft Director Nathan Nichols delivered a Marine Industry Product and Factory Process presentation to 40 Queensland S.A.E members at the CruiseCraft Brisbane based manufacturing plant. The evening was developed as an S.A.E member education evening with the presentation covering areas of quality control in fibreglass manufacturing and current trends in the marine industry.
Of particular interest to the QLD S.A.E is CruiseCraft's ongoing investment in apprenticeship schemes and onsite training at their manufacturing facility. The Australian government's acknowledgement of a future shortage of trade skills has sparked an emphasis in the development of training initiatives and workplace incentives for apprenticeship positions.
The Society of Automotive Engineers holds a member base in excess of 2000 professionals and para-professionals across Australasia. The representative body was formed to collect and develop the knowledge of automotive technologies to further advance their relative fields and practitioners.
Representative from the QLD S.A.E, Ron Emery was glowing in the success of the evening.
“Although the boating industry is not thought of as something the S.A.E should pay close attention to, we believe that the automotive industry and our members can learn a lot from the innovative technology and training schemes developed by CruiseCraft,” Ron Emery said.
“The response from our members who attended the CruiseCraft presentation was excellent and we believe all industries could benefit from Nathan Nichols' attitude towards apprenticeships and workplace training,” said Ron Emery.
CruiseCraft boats has been building high quality and innovatively designed fibreglass boats for over 45 years and is renowned for their attention to detail and strength of construction. Backing up their products with a 7 year hull warranty, CruiseCraft boats believe that the future success of Australian boat products relies heavily on a commitment to skills training and innovation.
“It would be dangerous for us to concentrate all our efforts on building boats without investing in our future boat builders,” said CruiseCraft Director, Nathan Nichols.
“Both CruiseCraft and the Australian Marine Industry must continue to create positive benefits for young people wanting to learn a boating trade and commit to a career in boat building.”
